I was never one of those girls who grew up fantasising about my wedding day. Actually that’s I lie, I did think about what I would wear but that’s the extent of it. Think Gwen Stefani’s pink wedding dress circa 2002. Oh and the ring…
Simon designed my ring and had it made at Solid Gold Diamonds. I have to say I was impressed at the effort he went to! He had seen an image of an Anna Sheffield ring I had fallen in love with 3 years ago and he altered it by adding more diamonds; I absolutely adore it!
When it came to planning our wedding I knew I didn’t want a standard wedding. The thought of getting married in front of 100 people terrified me. All I wanted to do was have a party, so we did!
We spread our wedding over two days. Our wedding ceremony was on the Friday at Maple & Rose House and the reception was on the Saturday at Maylands Yacht Club.
The Ceremony
The day started out with Simon and I going to a champagne breakfast at one of our fave cafes The Little Guildford. We then came home and got ready together. We also arrived at the ceremony together and it took so much stress and anxiety out of the day. Once the ceremony was over we all went to The Queens for a late lunch. I wouldn’t change a thing about this day (except maybe the amount of Mumm I drank).
The Reception
We had a cocktail reception which included shots on entry, a desert table, champagne, cigars, whiskey and lots of dancing. I was completely overwhelmed by all of the love we received on the day.
The Dress
Ever since Lola Varma launched I knew that’s what I wanted to wear. The girls from Lola Varma were so lovely and made my experience a blast. My only regret is not ordering a smaller size and being confident that I would lose weight. I ended up losing a decent amount of weight and had to have my outfit altered twice.
The Glam
I did my own makeup both days. I didn’t really practise or pre plan anything except for the lips. I wore Mac Rebel for the Ceremony and Mac Diva for the Reception.

Planning a wedding was one of the most stressful times of my life! We had an absolute blast but I am so happy it is all over. Married life is bliss and I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve listed below all of the vendors we used that I would recommend and use again. We tried to use people we knew or that were local to our area in Maylands.
